Parent to Parent of NYS Presents Monthly Spotlighted Events:
Parent to Parent of NYS presents an opportunity for parents of children with disabilities and the professionals who serve them to learn more about their child’s disability or special health care need. Spotlighted Events will empower and assist parents and professionals in learning and sharing about resources, advocacy skills and information about upcoming conferences or trainings. Rural Mobile Outreach Playgroup (ROMP) Parents and children of children between 0-6 years of age are welcome to attend a free educational and social learning experience that will include games, crafts, circle time, snack and free play. North Country Conference on Autism Spectrum Disorders The Autism Awareness Walk Committee is pleased to present a two day conference on Autism Spectrum Disorders. Topics presented will include Recent Developments in Behavioral Interventions, Getting It: A Perspective from a Young Adult living with Aspergers, Procedures for Setting up Networks in School, Special Education Regulations, Creating Sensory Environments and Sensory Stories, Psychiatric Assessments and Treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorders and many more. Registrations must be received by October 31st, 2008. Video Conference: A Guide for Families to Understanding Supports and Services
The purpose of this training is to introduce families to the language of service delivery systems and to define and clarify information about services and supports. Participants will gain an increased awareness and understanding of eligibility criteria and the eligibility determination process. The training includes an overview of Medicaid Service Coordination (MSC), Home and Community Based Services Waiver, and Family Support Services.
