Bridget Cariello
Education Advocate My name is Bridget Cariello. I am married and have two amazing children: a ten-year-old girl, and an eleven-year-old boy with Asperger's Syndrome, mild tics and ADHD like symptoms. For the past 10 years I have been self employed as a Realtor, September through May and a swim instructor (predominantly dealing with adaptive aquatics) May through the summer months. I attended BriarCliffe Business College with course completion in Pre-law/paralegal legal assist with a minor in communications, as well as the American Real Estate School in Hauppauge, N Y. My passion has always been working with people. As a young child I volunteered for various community organizations becoming the youngest individual offered a full time position at United Cerebral Palsy in Nassau County. I continued my journey as the March of Dimes Youth Leadership representative for the state of New York, often using different modes of communication and behavior modifications. Most recently I chartered a Special Education Parent Teachers Association (SEPTA) in my local community. I am currently working to further my personal and professional mission to better the lives of both individuals with special needs and their families. Becoming a parent changed everything for me. It brought everything full circle. I am a Mom who knows the financial, physical and emotional strain having a child with special needs can cause. I also know the immense joy and learning experience that my child brings to my world. Working for Parent to Parent of NY State has enabled me to assist the parents of Long Island. I look forward to witnessing their personal growth and fostering my own through this important work! *I am Spanish speaking and would love to extend my services to anyone who needs them. . Se habla espanol. Hay muchos servicios disponibles a individuos con discapacidades del desarrollo. Me gustaría ayudarle a aprender más sobre estos servicios. Nuestro programa es completamente libre. No one should have to be alone when parenting a child with special needs and with the Parent to Parent philosophy no one has to be !
